This is Supposed To Be Fun

As a mom of three, I decided to speak out about parenting struggles, mom guilt, juggling work and kids, and all the dirty diapers in between. I’ve heard it takes a village to raise a baby, and since our entire village consists of 5 people, I thought it was necessary to enlist the help, ideas, and support of total strangers; other moms going through similar situations.

Have you ever thought about exactly what you would do with an afternoon all to yourself? Would you get a pedicure, meet a friend for coffee, or just lie down in the pile of unfolded laundry a take a nap? If I had the energy to fix myself a good, strong drink, I’d most likely fall asleep in it after the first sip.

Parenting is rough, and for anyone who says it’s easy— You’re doing it wrong!

It’s 5 a.m., and the house is still wrapped in quiet — except for the soft rustling of my middle child waking up. Any minute now, he’ll come padding into the kitchen, asking for breakfast and a quick game before the sun even thinks about rising. “Early bird” doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Motherhood is full of these moments — the ones that start before dawn and require you to be on, present, and ready before you’ve even had your coffee. As a nurse, I’m no stranger to early mornings and long days, but motherhood adds a whole new layer to the exhaustion. Somewhere between caring for patients and caring for my family, I realized I wasn’t caring for myself.

That’s when I started looking for simple, realistic ways to support my energy, focus, and overall wellness — without adding hours to my already packed schedule. From small mindset shifts to supplements that truly make a difference, I’ve learned that taking care of myself isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity.

I want to share how I’ve learned to navigate early mornings (both at home and on the job), stay healthy in the chaos, and keep my energy up — so I can show up fully for both my patients and my kids.

Deep breath, this is supposed to be fun.

Thanks for spending a few minutes with me today! Whether you’re navigating the early mornings of motherhood, powering through nursing shifts, or just trying to take better care of yourself, remember — small, consistent steps add up. You’re doing better than you think.
